A professional-level wireless device loaded with features that make focusing easier and more intuitive.
Wireless Focus Control
The microRemote handheld controller is a professional-level wireless device loaded with features that make focusing easier and more intuitive. Add the Handheld Controller to your microRemote system and achieve focus control in virtually any situation where it’s difficult to pull focus directly from the camera: steadicam, jib arms, cranes, or just to have some extra room around the camera.
By controlling focus wirelessly you remove the need to directly touch the camera during a shot, but still control focus to direct your viewer’s attention. By untethering your camera from a direct follow focus, unique and creative shots can be achieved using a Steadicam or MoVi that would otherwise be impossible.
In situations where wireless may not be possible or allowed, the optional tethering cable wires the microRemote for direct, interference-free operation up to 20ft away.
Camera Run/Stop
The microRemote Handheld Controller also features the ability to trigger the Run/Stop of supported cameras (cable required). This allows for complete control of the camera remotely for when it may be completely inaccessible, such as 100ft up on a crane.
The microRemote Handheld Unit also has a built in Run/Stop light that indicates when the camera is recording or not, so the camera does not even need to be within your line of sight.
Lens Mapping
All lenses are mapped to the full 270˚ rotation of the microRemote. This is especially helpful for DSLR lenses that have very short throws, but also very helpful for some Cinema Lenses that have unmanageably long throws. The expanded mapping on DSLR Lenses allows for more refined, precise focus pulls that would be impossible with a traditional follow focus.
The mapping process makes all lenses feel similar, allowing for a consistent feel throughout your entire lens set.

What is the microRemote Handheld Controller?
The microRemote Handheld Controller is an add-on controller for users who purchased the microRemote Handheld Bundle and now want to control focus wirelessly as well. This is not a complete kit and must be used in conjunction with the rest of the microRemote system.
How Long Do the Batteries Last?
The batteries last roughly 11 hours of normal use.
Can I use the microRemote Handheld Controller in my left or right hand?
Yes, the microRemote Handheld Controller is ambidextrous. The indicator arm can be rotated for either left or right handed operation.
Can I buy multiple Marking Discs for the microRemote Handheld Controler?
Yes, the marking discs can be removed. They include a hole that aligns with the set pin on the microRemote Handheld Controller that allows you to remove and replace the marking disc without having to remark them.
Can I attach the microRemote Handheld Controller to a Monitor?
Yes, the microRemote Handheld Unit has a 1/4"-20 thread on the bottom of it, and it can be integrated into a monitor using the FieldRunner AC Rig.
Can I reverse lens direction?
What happens if there is too much wireless interference?
Is microRemote compatible with other motors?
Yes, in addition to the Redrock Torque motors, the microRemote system is compatible with Heden digital motors. It has also been suggested the microRemote is compatible with Preston motors, though we have not yet verified this.
Will the microRemote be powerful enough to drive my lens?
The microRemote can be used in tethered mode, where you use an optional wire to connect the microRemote to the basestation. This avoids all wireless interference and gives you exceptional performance under virtually any conditions.
What is the maximum distance for wireless?
The microRemote is rated to 1600m (1 mile) line of sight. Obstructions or other conditions may reduce that distance.
